University of Surrey Lifewide Learning Award 2009
The Surrey Centre for Excellence in Professional Training and Education believes that a higher education experience should recognise that students are engaged in learning in all aspects of their lives while they are studying at University. This Award is for a deserving undergraduate and postgraduate student who has made their own educational experience more complete through the things they have chosen to do in addition to their academic programme.
Undergraduate Winner Sharon Thangaraj
‘To me a more complete education is an education which provides opportunities for students to go beyond academic learning and beyond books to look for something broader and seek opportunities that provide good learning skills and hands on experience; such as taking part in University programmes, for example organised by the Students Union like give it a go activities or Do More for the community, taking part in part time employment to gain experience besides earning some extra pocket money in this time of credit crunch and most of all to do something for yourself, for your university, for your personal satisfaction, as well as for something that would benefit society as a whole.’
Postgraduate Winner Ellie Atkins
