The learning challenge in the 21st century
In a world of continuous change we need to move from 'learning about' to 'learning to be' and from learning to be to 'learning to become'. John Seeley Brown is one of the great educational thinkers of our time making sense out of the way young people use new media and actually learn, particularly through the internet and the implications this has for all of us who are involved in higher education. In my training I learnt about the subject before I was allowed to learn to be.. if you begin with trying to be you immediately come up against problems that you cant solve and so this need to know and understand becomes a deep driver for learning. This video broadcast is full of interesting ideas and perspectives on learning for the type of world we know live in and more importantly for the type of world our children and grandchildren will co-create.
